About the Festival
Formally
know as "Movies in the Park - Cumming",
the event is an outdoor family-friendly festival that takes place over
three days in Central Park in Cumming, GA.
The
events are sponsored by local area companies and organizations, with the
top supporters including
Northside
Hospital
Forsyth,
Comcast and Southern
Outdoor Cinema. Sponsorship
opportunities are available
Who can attend the Festival?
The
Northside Hospital Forsyth Film Fest presented by Comcast is open to the public. The
event is geared to families with young children and teen-ages. The
outdoor movies are free.
How does the festival benefit
charity?
Some
activities such as the inflatable rides will have a small admission
fee. A portion of the ticket sales will go directly to
charity. We encourage you to buy food on-site, rather than bring your own. After all, the movie is FREE! A portion of the proceeds benefit charity. What
charities will the festival benefit?
United Mitocondrial Disease Foundation and the
Forsyth County Civitan Club.
About
the United Mitocondrial Disease Foundation: The UMDF offers support
to all sufferers of mitochondrial disorders regardless of diagnosis,
suspected or confirmed.
About Mitocondrial Disease: Mitochondrial diseases result from
failures of the mitochondria, specialized compartments present in every
cell of the body except red blood cells. Mitochondria are responsible
for creating more than 90% of the energy needed by the body to sustain
life and support growth. When they fail, less and less energy is
generated within the cell. Cell injury and even cell death follow.
About
the Forsyth County Civitan Club: The purpose of the Club is to
assist the special needs children in the community. As a group we
sponsor holiday parties which include lunch, snacks, dancing and
fellowship for school-aged children.
